Why Create a Blog About Cancer Survivor Art?

In commemoration of all women and men who have won, battled, or lost the fight with this disease, Kanika Marshall has created an extensive a line of original, one-of-a-kind breast cancer survivor jewelry and other Kanika African Sculptures art pieces that evoke a sense of hope around this disease.

This survivor art blog is dedicated to Kanika's mother, Mary Marshall, who lost her seven-year battle with the disease in January 2007. Mary lived a phenomenal, positive, fun, service-oriented, fulfilling life, as described in the 9/28/2007 post in this blog and this blog helps to keep her memory alive.

We hope you enjoy this blog and will share your comments with us.

About Me

My photo
Kanika Marshall
. . . I believe my African ancestors work through my fingers to create each collectible art sculpture and family history book in the Kanika Marshall Art and Books collection. My creative process generally begins with a 25-pound block of red clay. Shapes of women, abstract forms, or other figures take shape in my mind's eye and my hands begin to move. Press. Scratch. Incise. Build. My hands are driven by a spiritual force to shape the clay and write family history books. Joyful. The spiritual essence from the ancestors shines through. I am humbled.
